GES hydrogen batteries have taken another step forward
Italian-made hydrogen batteries for storing energy derived from renewable sources, being developed by Green Energy Storage, have taken another step forward. The technology, particularly the chemical part, has been patented. Salvatore Pinto revealed to Il Corriere the chemistry behind the new hydrogen battery patented by GES - Green Energy Storage. “As a raw material we will use manganese,” said Pinto, president and majority shareholder of the Trentino-based SME. “It is one of the most widespread elements in the earth's crust, there is already a supply chain and a recycling chain, and it is green and harmless, unlike vanadium and bromine, used in other technologies, which are toxic. Manganese is the only raw material we use, turning it into manganese sulfate.”
